Control car with arduino and labview

This post is about to control a toy car with labview and arduino .

Things you will need:

  1. A remote control car
  2. Arduino Board (UNO ,MEGA,OR OTHER)
  3. Soldering Iron
  4. Some Wires
  5. Lab View Software 2010 or above

Steps in making project:
Open remote control of car you don't need to open car because car is only controlled by remote so just mak changes in remote control.

After opening remote controller analyze the circuit of remote how it works.

In my remote controller when ground is applied on desired pin remote sends signal to car and car run according to received signal so i soldered four wires (forward and backward motion and turn letf and right) when ground is applied to any wire remote sends signal.

So attach just four wires to arduino board , you just apply ground from arduino to particular  for particular decision.
Now you need to program according to above logic or if you have your own logic means if you apply high instead of ground still program is same .

It is interesting to work with graphical programing .

  2. I am doing a similar project and I am wondering what pins you used on the arduino board?

  3. My labview is an older version than yours and I cannot open your VI. Is there a possiblity that you could save it as a 2009 version of the VI? I saw online you can save the vi as an older version and I was wondering if you could possibly do that.

    1. I noticed from your video that you have a wire connected to Vin on the arduino. Do you have batteries in the controller or are you using the arduino to power the controller?

  4. welcome Jackson , i am using labview 2010 and i think arduino library is compitable with 2011 but i used 2011 runtime that makes 2010 compitable to 2011 if you are using 2010 version than you must look at my previous post there is complete steps are written how to download, instal arduino library.

    1. I installed the arduino library and NI-VISA package and the arduino software and set up the arduino. When I ran the program, the wheels of the car would spin as soon as I started the program, but it would not respond to pressing any of the switches. A short time after that one of the batteries in the controller exploded and started leaking on the table. I am trying to figure out where I went wrong and I think it is with the wiring. I have soldered wires onto the 4 areas for control as you did and onto V+ and V- as well. I put the V+ wire into the Vin pin and the V- wire into the ground pin on the arduino. The other 4 wires for control I put in pins 3, 4, 6, and 8. I am unsure what I did wrong and any advice would be helpful. Thanks a bunch

  5. I got it to work. There should be no batteries in the controller when attached to the arduino

  6. i cant run the program because the sub.vi or the digital write pin.vi is missing also the close.vi

    1. you have to just upload a single code only for one time then the whole programming is done with LabVIEW if you don't know the procedure of interfacing of arduino and LabVIEW then visit my previous posts and follow step by step guide.
